Privacy Policy for SynapTICK

SynapTICK ("the app") is developed and maintained by SynapTICK. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, what stays on your device, and the limited cases where information is sent to a third-party service.

Information You Provide

The app offers an optional field during the welcome screen where you may enter your first name. This name is used solely to personalize in-app greetings (for example, "Good morning, Jon"). This information is stored only on your device and is never transmitted, shared, or accessible by anyone other than you. Providing your name is entirely optional and the app functions fully without it.

Location (GeoSync)

Detecting arrival or departure — the core purpose of GeoSync — happens entirely on your device. Your live location is checked only in the moment, compared against the coordinates of places you've saved, and immediately discarded. It is never stored, logged, or transmitted anywhere.

Setting up a location (searching for or confirming an address, or viewing the map) does involve third-party services, described below under "Third-Party Services Used for Address and Map Features."

Background location access ("Allow all the time") is requested so arrival/departure detection continues to work even when the app isn't open.

Calendar Access

If you enable Google Calendar sync for reminders, the app writes reminder events to your device's local calendar using Android's built-in calendar system.

If you enable the optional Calendar Auto-Import feature, the app also reads the titles and start times of your existing calendar events, on-device, to identify events that may be worth creating a reminder for. This reading happens entirely on your device — event titles and times are never transmitted, stored outside your device, or shared with anyone, including SynapTICK.

Third-Party Services Used for Address and Map Features

GeoSync's address search and map display rely on external mapping services to function — this is standard for any app with map/address features, since maps and address lookups require a live service SynapTICK does not and cannot run itself. Specifically:

• Address search-as-you-type sends the text you type to Photon, a third-party address search API (operated by Komoot, photon.komoot.io), to return matching address suggestions.
• Tapping or dragging a location on the map, and typing a full address and saving, uses Android's built-in Geocoder to convert between coordinates and addresses. On most devices this is backed by Google's geocoding service via Google Play Services, meaning the coordinates or address text are sent to Google to perform the lookup.
• Displaying the map itself loads map tile images from CARTO (carto.com), which necessarily involves your device requesting image tiles for the map area you're viewing.

These services only receive what's needed to perform the lookup or display the map (search text, coordinates, or the map area in view) — SynapTICK does not send your saved reminder locations, your name, or any other app data to them, and does not receive anything back from them beyond the address/map result shown to you.

Feedback, Suggestions, and Bug Reports

If you choose to use the in-app Feedback, Suggestion, or Bug Report form, submitting it sends what you wrote — along with your device model and app version, and your name/email only if you choose to provide them — to Formspree, a third-party form-processing service, so we can receive and respond to your message. This is entirely optional and only happens if you actively fill out and submit the form; nothing is sent unless you choose to send it.

In-App Purchases

SynapTICK Pro is a one-time purchase processed entirely through Google Play's billing system. SynapTICK does not see, collect, or store your payment information (card details, etc.) — that is handled directly between you and Google. SynapTICK only receives confirmation of whether the purchase was completed, which is stored locally on your device to unlock Pro features.

Information We Do Not Collect

Outside of the specific, limited cases described above (address/map lookups and an optional feedback form you choose to submit), SynapTICK does not transmit, sell, or share any personal data. Specifically:

• SynapTICK has no backend or cloud service of its own — there is no SynapTICK server that your data is sent to
• No usage analytics or crash reports are collected or transmitted
• No account creation is required
• No advertising identifiers are used

All alarm, reminder, timer, and settings data you create in the app is stored locally on your device only and never leaves it. This includes a small on-device usage pattern (which day/hour you typically use the app) used only to suggest a sensible default time for the optional Workweek Check feature — this pattern is never transmitted anywhere and stays entirely on your device.

Permissions

The app requests the following permissions, each serving a specific function:

• Notifications — to display alarm, reminder, and timer alerts
• Exact Alarms — to ensure alarms and reminders fire at precisely the scheduled time
• Display Over Other Apps — to show the alarm fire screen over the lock screen and other apps
• Battery Optimization Exemption — to prevent the operating system from interrupting scheduled alarms in the background
• Location (including background/"Allow all the time") — used only if you set up a GeoSync location-based reminder, to detect arrival at or departure from a saved place; see the Location section above
• Microphone — used only if you enable Voice Stop (say a word to dismiss an alarm) or a voice-based quick-add feature; audio is processed on-device for speech recognition and is not recorded, stored, or transmitted
• Physical Activity / Step Detection — used only if you enable the optional Step Challenge wake-up verification, to count steps taken to confirm you're out of bed; step counts are not stored or used for any fitness-tracking purpose
• Calendar (Read & Write) — used only if you enable the optional Google Calendar sync or Auto-Import features for reminders; see the Calendar Access section above

Children's Privacy

SynapTICK is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under the age of 13. The app does not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy is updated in the future, the revised version will be posted at this same URL with an updated date at the top.
